Gunscape is a first person shooter developed by Epic Games. It features a detailed 3D environment, comparable to those found in the Nintendo 64 era of shooters. You play as a soldier tasked with taking down hostile forces as you make your way through multiple locations, from abandoned buildings to an oil field, all the while surviving against hordes of enemies and protecting yourself from environmental hazards such as radiation and unstable ground. Gunscape released on November 15, 2018 for Microsoft Windows and Humble Store's Game-in-a-Box service for Xbox One release on December 4th 2018. The game will also be available on Steam starting December 18th, 2018 through early January 2019. On December 13th, 2018 the Linux release was confirmed to be coming soon. On May 28th, 2018 it was announced that Gunscape would also be available on Nintendo Switch and PS4. This will be the first Unreal Engine 4 game to come to these platforms. Gunscape is a first person shooter game which has an emphasis on level-design and replay-ability. Although the game is single player only, it features an open ended gameplay that allows players to play through levels in different ways with different weapons and items at their disposal. The game's levels are randomly generated through procedural generation after the player completes them or whenever they load up their save file (if they choose to not create their own). There are four difficulty levels, available to players after beating the game on the first three difficulties. The player is unable to reset these difficulty settings or create their own levels until they beat the game on each difficulty. Weapons and items include: Gunscape also features two game modes: online multiplayer and offline multiplayer/co-op. Online multiplayer allows players to play with up to 2 other players, while offline mode is where players can play with friends in co-op mode. There are 8 unlockable achievements in total, found through completing various tasks like playing certain games online or achieving certain amounts of kills (so long as the number of kills doesn't exceed 15). The game started development in mid 2015, the game is developed by the same team that created the Unreal Engine 4 sample projects "UE4 Minigolf" and "UE4 Halloween Pumpkin Carver". Gunscape was originally going to be a procedurally generated level single player shooter that focused a lot on level design and exploration. After the developers worked on the title for over a year they decided to change focus from exploration and level design to make it more of an arena shooter. After this change, they made it playable at two different shows, PAX East 2016 and Develop:Brighton 2016. At PAX, they held a themed battle royale in the form of a Last Man Standing match. The winner of this match was awarded with an exclusive in-game skin for their character. After these two shows, the game had made enough progress to be showcased at GDC 2017 where they hosted another game of Last Man Standing. That winner received an exclusive controller skin for their console. The game was officially announced on March 15th, 2018 with no update since then.
